Women and Wives
An extension of Man, Property
Calpurnia and Portia function primarily not as sympathetic personalities or sources of insight or poetry but rather as symbols for the private, domestic realm. Both women plead with their husbands to be more aware of their private needs and feelings (Portia in Act II, scene i; Calpurnia in Act III, scene ii). Caesar and Brutus rebuff the pleas of their respective wives, however; they not only prioritize public matters but also actively disregard their private emotions and intuitions. As such, Calpurnia and Portia are powerless figures, willing though unable to help and comfort Caesar and Brutus."In the Street vs In the Sheets
It would be cool if there was a stark contrast in how Brutus, or maybe even all of the characters look when they are in "the public" eye and when they are amongst themselves in private. I think the costumers will do this naturally just based on play convention, but this is a good time to show off some muscle. I think its a chance for the males to show their power in carnal..beastly way.
Just the removal of sleeves makes the man below look more aggressive. The hoodie, i like cause it makes him look more like an animal...hoods suck on stage though.

Caser as Eternal
You know I fancy projections....
I think it might also be cool to see a bust of your Caesar slowly illuminating throughout the length of the play (maybe in the backdrop or in the house, at the top of stage center arch maybe etc.) or in some way representing Caesar's impression being left even after his demise. Something about Caesars legacy. I think it also speaks to the legacy of Ambition. We remember the ambitious even after they are no longer alive.

Ideal vs. Popularity
BRUTUS vs CAESAR
Brutus believes in the ideal. He believes that he knew what wass best for "Rome", because he thought that Rome would suffer if Caesar reigned.
subtly I think something can certainly echo this modern match up.
Mittens Vs. Barry O
(just an idea)

Texture and Feel
Like this image because of the muted tones. I thought they were really striking on their dark skin. Something about it also felt "african" yet I could easily see this being futurized.I liked the flow of this. The shape felt very classical, but I feel like if its swatched with some of jewel tones we discussed earlier, with more gold, it makes for a very sexual

Oblivion - Morgan Freeman Interview
The technology has a sense of personality in Oblivion.
I think the setting in this production can do the same.
There is a nice clip with shadows and Freeman in the underworld.
Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter in the Golden Compass
this clip really captures the dichotomy of the old and new technology I speak about the concept. the cart, the blimp, the city.. I think this is the palette.
The Concept
I see
a video game.
JULIUS Caesar OBLIVION Underworld meets BIOSHOCK INFINITE;
Caesars entourage arrives in "ROME" having defeated "Pompeii". Instead of 44BC, I see 'Caesar' in the year 3044. After the "Chomskian" realighment of world power. POMPEII represents the old world. The old empire. No more oil. Part of the world is uninhabitable because of extreme weather conditions (Global Warming); disease (Typhoid, mutated virus); plague, etc.
So this is a POST-apocalypse civilization. The best territory has been claimed by "THE ROMANS". Like the ancient Romans, the cycle repeats itself. This lingering reality that we learned nothing from the ambitious conquests of the past, is mirrored through the old word technology and costumes meeting updated futuristic technology.
I think the quality of the tone can feel like a video game. Like the audience is engaged in first person RPG. The see the game through maybe Brutus' eye but maintain that God-like omniscient nature granted in video games. I think you could give the soliloquies a modern adaptation ..maybe intertwine video footage.
Texture, i see metallic, leather, rustic, yet futuristic. Almost in a Davincian technology (yet metallic) kind of way. I see gears, huge gears. That represent work and movement and power.
Classes/Status:: I see a stark contrast between the opulence of the rich, but still, even if unspoken, a dark, dirty, underworld.
In dress:: I think the idea should start with Nazi-germany uniform mixed with soviet Russian. Very militaristic. But i think their military dress is a bit more flared.
i love the angles in number 4. The leather boots and the steel grey is striking to me. I would add a little more metalic texture. Maybe where brown is instead with gold or titanium colored bands.
For some of the women, i would take this bustle dress. And swatch it with jewel tones and metallic.
i would vary the bustle silhouette with this silhouette. Very sexual, yet strong..powerful. opulent.
